The Chilean Navy's requirement for a landing platform dock type vessel has gained urgency
after the decommissioning of its main amphibious transport ship - LST VALDIVIA on 14
January after refit plans were abandoned. France and Italy are offering solution. In
December the UK MoD informed the Chilean authorities that the RFA LARGS BAY would be
available for sale after April 2011. The Chilean Navy is making arrangements to send a
team to inspect the vessel in the UK.

Los requerimientos de la Armada de Chile por un buque del tipo LPD han cobrado urgencia luego de la decomisión de su principal transporte anfibio LST Valdivia el 14 de enero, después de que los planes de refit fueron abandonados. Francia e Italia están ofreciendo soluciones. En diciembre el ministro de defensa británico informó a las autoridades chilenas que el RFA Largs Bay estaría disponible para la venta a partir de abril del 2011. La Armada de Chile está haciendo los acuerdos para enviar un equipo para inspeccionar el buque en el Reino Unido.
